Well I'm back on my feet. Actually things worked out pretty good...my *** didn't even touch the unemployment. I got laid off in mid-august, but my boss kept telling me to start looking before that. Luckily I did and was in the middle of interviewing at a place when I got the boot. I smoothe talked my way into a month and a half of compensation for being laid off and actually got hired by the new company in mid september....so I had some extra cash laying around.

Things are going good though, searching for a new bike and just doing what I have to do.

Again, good to have you back on the forums

SoberBiker, tell me about it man. I've interviewed at 2 dealerships around here, and they want to pay $7.50 an hour and "some commissions" for someone to pedal a $20,000 motorcycle. Amazing isn't it???? I told them obviously they were looking for some kid with a pulse to sell for them, and not a true salesman. Oh well. Hope it works out for you man. Welcome back to the boards, good to have you back.

What kind of a scoot are ya in the market for Mongo? Have a limit on the cost (Of course within reason ) or is it just the model yur interested in?

Phat...
Thanks for the wecome back
I haven't found a dealer yet that is willing to give up a fair share of the profit...at least here I am being offered $9.00 hr. But I have worked for them before and they screwed me! I am only askin that they give me $10.00 hr. If they can't come up off $1 then they can pay some warm body to not be able to do the job...LOL!

I'm in the market for something that goes fast, is loud, draw lots of chicks, and costs close to nothing....but I know those don't exist. I'm looking for a bigger bike again, another heritage or a fatboy.....cost is always a concern but I'm saving so I don't have to worry about it too much.

Well my wide glide goes fast, to the gas station. It is loud with Vance and Hines straight shots. It draws lots of chicks though they leave as soon as I show up. And right now, it cost me close to nothing.(sittin in the garage cause it's toooo DAMN cold out to thump around.)

Oh sun shine! Where art thou? Why am I so damned to 4 degree weather and snow?

Maybe I shoulda bought a four wheeler.

Waitin to be glydin!

Cool Pay Scale

Hey Sober...be cool as some Harley dealers are looking for quality employees. However, too many have tasted the money and got hooked. Had a dealer offer me a job managing his store and almost choked when I gave him a price.

He claimed he had 100's of applications from people asking under $10 an hour. In response I reminded him he had approached me (I live in a different state and he tracked me down) and if he really wanted to save on employee wages, at the cost of everything else pertaining to his business, that I could easily find people that'd work for free just so they could brag about working at a Harley dealership...and with a little more effort could find some that would pay for the "Honor".

Of course as things tighten up, due to competition, dealers like that sell out...

Like a sign, prominently displayed in a Harley dealer I worked for in the 60's, said, "You get what you pay for and oats that have been through a horse are much cheaper than new oats."

Don't sell yourself cheap...if you're a quality mech (or tech as it's written now) demand a quality price or do it on your own...
