Default Road King Custom Bags?

Really like the '04 Road King Custom. It's basically everything I would have done to the '03 I almost bought. Except for one thing...I think those leather covered bags are butt ugly.

Does anyone know if regular Road King hard bags will fit the Custom?

A nice set of standard hard bags and a set of forwards, and that might be all I put into this thing.

Not sure if regular RK bags will work. You're right about the leather bags, and they do not lock. I love the beach bars but have heard they are VERY uncomfortable. Even though still my favorite Road King... pretty bike

Not positive but I would imagine they both quick-attach in the same manner. I have both hard cases and the "ugly leather ones" for my '96. It's nice having both.

I heard the bags on the 04's lock with the ignition now. Anyone also hear that? I'm gonna doubt they would swap out with the other bags, cause they changed the mounts on RKC.

Am I the minority on the fact that I don't think the leather bags are that ugly? Lot's of my friends think they are ugly as well. I don't think they are so bad, but I guess it's all about individuality.

Well I really like the bags on my new 2004 Road King Custom. They kind of have a retro look just like the bike. This is now the 3rd Harley I have owned and I think this is the best looking bike that Harley has ever come out with. I have always wanted a Road King but never got one because they still reminded me of an old guys bike(sorry to those guy's older than me, LOL). When I saw this bike I new it was the bike I had been waiting for and so I traded in the Dyna T-Sport I had just bought one year earlier. Everyone who see's my bike agree's that Harley seems to have a winning look with this Road King Custom.
As for the bags locking with the ignition, they do not. Also keep in mind that the bags on the Road King Classic also do not lock.

Later, Kasper.

I think the leather bags look fine if that is the look you want. But the hard bags are larger and to me are the best bet. The custom is nice and low. One positive thing is my next ride will be a Road King. Was looking at a Police Road King and making some mods. But the Hard Leather bags are out for me.

I like the streamlined leather covered bags. That's part of the reason I have the bike on order. Not sure about the handlebars yet. I'll have to ride with them before I decide. I think the Custom look is nice departure from the standard RK and the Classic.

Around here alot of guys must like the leather bags judging by the number I see. When I bought my Road King i narrowed it down to a 2002 Classic in green & Black or a 2004 Gunmetal standard. Both my wife & I prefered the 2004. She liked the colur and hard bags while I like the cast wheels over spokes. I like the security of the hard bags with locks.
