Question Savage 650 Timing

Does anyone know how to set the timing on an 86 Suzuki Savage 650? My timing chain broke and everything is out of whack. Thanks. Tim

I know where the timing chain is on that bike, since a buddy has one and I know that the adjuster slide can cause problems b/c they wear quickly...but are cheap.

Did you have the chain repaired at a shop or did you do it yourself? If it was properly installed, I'd grab a shop manual for the bike and go at it - should have all the details.

I'm doing all the work myself if possible. I have the old chain out and a new one to put back in but don't know how to line the timing marks up. Do you know if the Clymer manuals give info on this? I really don't want to pay $60 for a manual at the dealership unless I have to. Thanks
