Custom Harley ?
Just about every Harley you ever see will be customized to some degree. That's one of the things I love about Harleys, each one is usually unique in some way or another. I enjoy going to my local watering hole, on a poker run, or rally and checking out all the different scooters, and seeing what people have done to customize their rides.
As far as my taste goes, I would never want a highly customized bike like an Orange County Chopper, Jesse James, or some other type of show bike. Simply because I want a bike that can be ridden every day, or wouldn't have one that I'm gonna have a ******* heart attack if it gets a scratch on it. If you saw my bike you'd see I like chrome, lot's of chrome.....lol...two reasons, it looks really cool, and it's easy to maintain. With polished aluminum you have to work to keep it clean, polished, and keep it from pitting. With chrome, there's a lot less work to keep it looking good, and with a little chrome polish it will stay protected. So I have added lot's of chrome to my scooter. As far as the motor goes, mine is basically stock. I have added only the stage 1 kit, Vance & Hines Straight Shots, Screaming Eagle air cleaner, and put a Dyno-Jet Thunderslide kit in the Carb. I don't feel the need for speed anymore at 45 yrs old....lol....I'd rather just putt on down the road, and enjoy the ride, so the major motor mods aren't an interest to me.
So, I guess the bike I have is exactly what I would want if I didn't already have it. This bike is everything I want & need at this point in my life. I love my FatBoy, and don't ever have plans to get rid of her, even when the time comes a few years from now, and new bike "fever" hits, I will keep this one. So, after all this rambling, my point is.....I already have my custom Harley, and so far there hasn't been much expense spared...

i think if i had to choose a custom bike i would build something between these two bikes. i really like the war eagle frames because of their swingarm design. i think the first one is not raked or stretched enough and the second one is too chopped!
the other thing with these customs is cost.....i cant justify 30000 for a bike i can ride for 4-6 months out of the year!

Mine will be my 2003 FLSTFI when I finally get all the parts/chrome I want on it. I'm slowly but surely getting there. Like some of the other posts have stated, there will be a LOT of chrome. So far, I've done the upper and lower fork sliders, the headlight nacelle, the hand grips, the stage one kit, chrome fender tips and screaming eagle 2 baloney cut pipes(which I'm having the baffles punched on this week).
I've also spent a lot of money to add the parts I need to make it a touring bike, which I take off when I'm not on the long trips. I've added the detachable windshield, quick detach saddlebags, quick detach sissy bar, and engine guard with highway pegs.
Some of the things I still have left to do are chrome swing arm, upper/lower belt guard, billet sprocket, all the engine, beachbar that I can tuck all the wires inside of, chrome housings on the handlebars, braided cables for those that can't be tucked, LED rear blinkers and tail light, and probably a few things I can't think of at the moment.

My dream bike would be the following:
A bike that never breaks - ever
Lots of chrome
Always has a hottie on the passenger seat
Gets more HP than my cage
Comfortable for long rides
Cool enough around town
Loud, low and lean
did I mention cheap.....?
Lol. I think this is why Motorcycles kick ***. You can have 5 guys that all have fatboys and they are all tricked out totally different. The motorcycle community embrace individualism, and that's why I love lots of bikes. I'll slow down or speed up to check out a bike, or take a little extra time walking in a parking lot just to see the work that's been done. Sportbike, drag bike, jap or harley....everybody does some cool stuff.

I like my fat boy with a few things done to it. It may not be the fastest or the lowest, but ir rides nice and is relaible. I have a few friends with choppers "american iron horse" "big dog". Yhe bikes are very fast but they have a way of eating up starters. Too bad there is not something to release compression upon start up to make it easy on parts. I have a friend/ customer who comes into where I work. He bought a wcc chopper diablo right before the big chopper blow up. waited his two years and got the bike. The day he got it home his phone was ringing.I never asked what he paid for his bike, but I know he paid cash for the viper and new big dog he now rides.

there is a guy on the HDF that has an awesome FatBoy. It has the Phatail kid and a lot of other goodies. I think that bike is hot, and maybe with some rake and maybe mini ape's, open primary and different carb it would be perfect for me? But I'm not sure, money would be no object, who knows what I'd do. BBC bike w/ the twin cam balanced motor might be perfect for me too.

when you say custom? do you mean the idea of customizing your own or having one customized for you?
My idea...old school. My dream bike was always a 78 shovel, to build myself!!
The ultimate dream..a pan or knuck, maybe im just older and like older bikes.
I do like jesse's and orange county's, I love indian larrys styles and even billy lane.
But give me old school anytime, preferably one i can build how i want!
I think Jesse and the Tuttles have gone so commericialized and they are NOT harleys, although appealing and beautiful, i think they are more for the rich and young(?)

What's up everyone! My ideal custom Harley is one that I built myself, completely from scratch, from the ground up - The way a "Custom" Bike SHOULD be.....Anything else is just Custom"ized".

i could not agree more with you harleycat...just adding chrome and bolting on every stupid aftermarket part does not make it custom at all.....a ground up builld with your own ideas is the only way to have a CUSTOM...anything else is just a harley with a lot of bolt on junk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
