Default Buckey Rally ride report

I rode to the 7th annual Bucky Rally located at Mt Palomar in San Diego last weekend. We started in Vacaville, I-80 to H-50 then toward Jackson and up highway 88 to 395 and south to Lone Pine by Mt Whitney after a stop at the Ghost town of Bodie. Next morning with a early start, crossed Death Valley and Mojave Desert. We arrived at the Buckey Rally in stile, 8 riders and 2 RV chase vehicles. No rain, but it was a little hot in Mojave Desert as it was around noon time while crossing. No one broke down on the way in camping was great. No RV hookups but lots of perfect tent and camp fire locations. Elevation was around 4,000 feet and weather was warm in day time 90 to 95 deg and cool at night. Good Beer was everywhere and atmosphere very friendly. We had a “Wet T-Shirt Contest” and a Band playing every night from 1800 to about 0200 in morning. Venders were selling all kinds of stuff. The “Rough Riders” put on a good show and policed the area to keep the rowdies out before any trouble started. The Rough Rider Event called “Buckey Rally” is done to provide money to the Local Veterans hospital. So it was a good cause and gives you a worthy excuse to just ride. We had people come all the way from Japan, Colorado and North Carolina just to name a few. I’m sure there were more but did not run into them. All in All, next year should be a good show.

Thanks Phat, It was fun. I enjoy getting out with my lady on a ride. Total milage was about 1500 miles round trip. Not long but enjoyable for sight seeing and no grinding road haul.

I wish there was something like that back east here. A ride with some camping would be a nice change to the day rides that we tend to have too many of.

Maybe I'll start one....LOL.

Anyway, sounded like a nice time, glad you enjoyed yourself.

Mongo

The only trouble I had on this trip was an oil leak that I fixed today. Oil Cooler adapter had a couple of loose nuts. I must have never tightened them because you know the New Harleys don't vibrate anymore. LOL.

Also this weekend the "Grand Fathers" are putting on a quite a show in Dobbins for two days. It has activities for kids like face painting and swiming at Lake Francis and music for the big kids on Motorcycles. Starts Friday and everybody leaves Sunday morning. This always solves the driveing home after drinking all day routine. Get a good morning sleep on Sunday and drive home. Seems to be a popular thing out here on the Left Coast. You should realy think about finding a orginzation that will help you orginize it. I think the MMA or ABATE might help with bodys to do the orgnizing if you find the right people.

Send me an E-mail if you want more information.

Good Luck
